
LCI’s Resource Center
This is the blog for the Resource Center of Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education, a library providing resources and information related to the practice of imaginative teaching and learning, to the various performing and visual arts, and to the contextual worlds related to specific works of art in the Institute’s repertory.
The Resource Center now has two incarnations: The Heckscher Foundation Resource Center @ Lincoln Center, which houses a specialized collection of print and media—some 10,000 reference and circulating items, and LCI’s Electronic Library, which provides staff, teaching artists, educational partners, and professional development workshop participants with access to reference databases, e-books, online journals, digital articles, and specialized lists of Web links.

What kinds of resources are available at the Heckscher Foundation Resource Center @ Lincoln Center?
The Resource Center houses a specialized collection of print and media—some 10,000 reference and circulating items. These include:
• Resources related to imaginative learning and aesthetic education.
• Resources related to the arts disciplines and to specific works of art.
• Adult and children’s resources.
• Books and audio-visual materials.
Who is eligible to borrow resources from the Heckscher Foundation Resource Center @ Lincoln Center?
Circulating materials may be borrowed only by the following:
• Lincoln Center Institute-affiliated educators
• Lincoln Center Institute teaching artists
• Lincoln Center Institute staff members
• LCI Teacher Education program students
• Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. staff members
• Lincoln Center Affiliate Organization staff members
Other researchers may arrange to use the Resource Center collections on-site by contacting staff to set up an appointment.
How do I search the library catalog?
To use the library catalog, go to LCI’s Web portal, select “LCI Library Catalog Search” from the green bar at the top of the screen on any LCI Web portal screen. Fill in one or more fields and click “Search.” Clicking on “Browse” allows you to view a list of all possible choices for that field. Two words typed into any one box will be treated as a phrase rather than two separate words. Scroll to the bottom of the page for a short guide to refining your search.
What kinds of resources are included in LCI’s Electronic Library?
LCI’s Electronic Library includes resources related to education, the arts, reference, and the contextual worlds related to specific works of art. These include:
• Reference databases will full-text, image, audio, and video content.
• Electronic journals addressing education topics.
• Online articles related to aesthetic education philosophy and practice.
• Electronic books related to aesthetic education, the imagination, and the arts.
• Web links related to the arts, education, arts education, Internet research, grant-writing & advocacy, and LCI’s repertory works of art.
Who is eligible to use the resources in LCI’s Electronic Library?
Educators and others who partner with the Institute and individuals who participate in our online and in-person professional development programs will have access the full range of Electronic Library resources using their Institute-issued Web portal user ID and password. Selected Electronic Library resources are also available to interested members of the general public.
